“One day, when Greg was working for me at a San Dieguito Boys Club, he saw a kid on a bike across the street on the junior high playground yelling obscenities at the principal. Greg ran over, grabbed the bike and told the boy, ‘I will return your bike AFTER you walk over and apologize to the principal.’ That is character and integrity in action. I am honored that Greg considers me a mentor. I still count him as a good friend.”

-DOUG HALL, RETIRED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, SAN DIEGUITO BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS
(In the 1970s, San Dieguito became the first Club in the nation to offer membership to girls. Under Greg Nelson’s leadership, the Carlsbad Club soon became the second.)

“Greg Nelson could be called Mr. Carlsbad Boys Club.”
